Runner?!

I was in Charleston last weekend participating in the Cooper River Bridge Run. Well for me, it was Cooper River Bridge Walk. After doing the half marathon the weekend before, I was sick and tired. I decided to give my body a break and walk the course. Ever since Cooper, I have not been feeling much like a runner. I never really ever actually felt like a runner, but I fooled myself into believing, at one time, that I was a runner. I have been very discouraged lately and want to start running again. I am even reading an article titled “Yes You can! Anyone can become a Runner.” So I am hoping with a little determination, I can muster up the energy to be a runner once again. Also, how do I talk myself into believing I am a runner?!

  1. lol, you are a runner. You run. Therefore you are. :D

First of all, you need to get your running back on a schedule. You do. And you need to find someone to run with you. Because you enjoy it more when someone is there. You need to put the fun back into it. I realize that you often think there is no fun to be had. But, there is. You wouldn't keep signing up for races if you didn't like it on some level.

Maybe coming to watch the race at the end of the month will inspire you a little. Also, have you thought about volunteering at some local races? You would enjoy that.

  2. I can't find the quote right now but when I do I will post it ... it says something about not thinking you are an artist and to keep painting until you do believe it.

So, I would say, keep running until you feel like you are a runner, until you believe that you are.

I agree with Anja ... get back on track, make it fun and post your progress. We will celebrate each mile completed!
